Join AFI Directing Faculty Laura James for an engaging exploration of the director's creative process and discover how a script evolves into a compelling cinematic vision. This virtual workshop examines how directors analyze scripts to uncover the story beneath the words, identify the emotional and thematic core of a project, and develop a unique point of view that shapes the audience's experience. Participants will also see how a director’s creative thinking carries through into preparation tools such as the director’s deck, storyboards, overheads, shot lists, and lined script, and how thoughtful preparation helps translate a cinematic vision into a clear plan for the screen.
