From First Cut to Final Cut: Behind the Editing Process of a Feature Film - 2026

From First Cut to Final Cut: Behind the Editing Process of a Feature Film

Thursday, November 5 at 5:00 p.m. PT (Zoom)

Movies are often rewritten in the editing room. Where the timing of a cut, the pacing of a scene, or the reassembling of a handful of sequences can completely transform a movie. In this virtual session, Editing Discipline Advisor and Faculty Member Susan Littenberg, will share an in-depth analysis of how the film, 13 GOING ON 30, was transformed during the post-production process. Sharing deleted and altered scenes from early rough cuts of the film, and comparing them to the finished feature scenes, participants will get a behind the scenes look at the process of editing, and the tough decisions that are made before the picture lock, resulting in a timeless classic.
