Welcome to the AFI Thesis Pitch Event Scoring page.

We are excited for AFI’s Thesis Pitch Event on Friday, September 19 at 4:00 p.m. PT.  All pitches will be scored live immediately following each team’s presentation.  Once a team concludes its presentation, click the plus sign next to the appropriate film title and score each element on a scale of 1 – 5 with 5 being the highest score and 1 as the lowest score.  The scoring window for each film is in the minutes immediately following the presentation.  The scoring window closes as soon as the next team begins its pitch.

Production awards will be given from the pooled donor fund in incremental amounts based on the ranking of each team’s aggregated score.

AFIC Pitch Event 2025 - 5150
5150

Please score each element on a scale of 1 – 5 with 5 being the highest score and 1 as the lowest score.

Is the subject matter or main idea clear to the audience and is the team aligned in telling the same story?
Does it have originality and potential to stand out artistically?
Is the main character engaging and interesting with clear challenges and is there a turning point for them? And is there at least one other strong supporting or antagonistic character?
A score of 5 would mean all members of the team are on the same page in terms of the style and thematic intent of the story. There is clearly a shared vision that the team aims to realize. A lower score might mean the team didn’t feel cohesive or united in its’ efforts to tell the story.
Are you convinced as an audience member that you want to see the finished film? Is there something artistically appealing about the story and characters? A lower score would mean you’ve determined the story and vision lacked clarity and were not well conveyed.
